5 things to do in Santorini

When someone says “Santorini” what do you think about? The postcards with white houses on a cliff with blue roofs somewhere in the Mediterranean?

The island of Santorini is one of my favorite places in Europe. You’ve seen my Greece blogs (here and here). I made up a list of 5 things to definitely check out if you’re ever on Santorini.

1. Visit Black Sand Beach in Perissa

2. Visit Fira

This is where you want to buy your souvenirs, everything is a bit more expensive over in Oia. And Fira has such cute little shops and places to eat.

3. Visit Oia for the sunset

Oia is famous for its blue roofs and gorgeous white building alongside the coast. It’s also famous for its sunsets. It’s better to get to Oia a few hours before sunset. You can wander around and find the perfect sunset spot!
4. Kissing Fish

There are a few places in Oia and also in Fira to experience the kissing fish. I went to Oia to do it both times I was there, and it was so much fun. It just feels like teeny vibrations on your feet. Make sure you have a buddy to do it with, so you can squeeze each others hands!

5. Rent a car

We rented a car on Santorini and it was great! The Greeks drive on the right side of the road, and while we got a bit lost on our way back to our airbnb we still managed to find little treasures along the route that wouldn’t be included in a tour. Renting a car or a ATV is probably one of the best ways to get around, especially in the off-season when we went. There’s a lot less traffic which makes it easier to get around the island itself!

I fell in love with Santorini harder the second time I was there. It is an incredible island with gorgeous views. Even though I’m lucky to say that I’ve been there twice now, I still missed a few things on the island that were recommended. Like the lighthouse, the top of the mountain where the old city was built, and a winery!

You can check out more photos of Santorini in my previous blog posts at the top of the page under the Greece tab, and also on my instagram .

Thanks for reading this week! See ya next week!
